What inspired you to start your business? (or work in the field /career)
Ali:   I've been in Strategy for the last 15 years. I've worked on the advertising agency side, with clients like Bank of America, Reebok, Victoria's Secret, and Goretex, and in Consulting on brands like Levi's and Nestle Purina. In more recent years, I've shifted into Marketing Strategy, and currently lead the Brand Strategy function for Dunkin'.

Lisa and I met during pick-up and drop-off routines - and I instantly admired her ability to balance an incredible corporate career, her own small business, and her family. Getting to know her gave me the confidence to start my own business- she is such an inspiration for me! After a few months of doing pop ups together , we heard Seaside Allure was for sale and decided to go for it together!

Lisa:  Well, my first love was BomBom Beads, where I craft the sweetest handmade jewelry. I started the business in 2020 and have grown the brand since to even include Everlasting BomBom, which is the latest permanent jewelry trend. And now, I have a new love with our Seaside Allure store. This has allowed me to bring both of my businesses together under one roof so that I can. spread the love, joy and passion that I have for both fashion and jewelry. What more could a girl want!

How old are your kids?
Ali:  4.5, 3, and 2 !
Lisa:  4 and 7 - Phoenix and Vander

Best tips for juggling a parenthood + a business:

Ali: Be organized, be kind, and be intentional with your time & energy. Don't stop to think about all the things you have to tackle, just keep going! I'm also very lucky to have a wonderful partner - without his encouragement, and equal dedication to our kids (while balancing his own demanding career too) I wouldn't be able to do what I do.

Lisa: Tips?! Not sure I have any. I have alot of to do lists but the truth of the matter is, I try to do my best when I can for everything I have going on. Taking it day by day and sometimes moment by moment is all we can do.

What was or is your favorite baby product?
Ali: Bugaboo Donkey is my OG favorite - but we bought the Veer wagon last summer and have been getting a ton of use out of that now that the kids are a little bigger!

Lisa:The Baby Bjorn Bouncer - we took that everywhere!

If you had to choose one parenting mantra for yourself, what would it be?
Ali: Just keep going

Lisa: F&*k It hahahah

What would you tell a parent navigating the newborn days? Or the toddler days?
Ali: They're harder than not, but they go by so quickly. You won't love every day, but find moments to appreciate your babies while they're little! I love the toddler phase - i know it's polarizing, but they're so fun and can do so much more. I try to have fun and manage expectations appropriately

Lisa: There is light at the end of the tunnel

What is something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
Ali: My academic background is in Psychology - and after graduate school I worked in Child and Adolescent development. I took a role at a start up, as a clinical adviser, and fell in love with the business side of the brand. With not a single finance or economics class under my belt, I decided to go to business school and the rest is history!

Lisa: I traveled much of the US and Europe with 50 Cent. Ask me about it next time you see me :)

What is your favorite spot to visit in your town with your kids or place to vacation and why?
Ali:  We spend a lot of our time on the walking trails, or playing outside at Devereaux - and get outside as much as possible!

Lisa: Gashouse Beach. My husband and I have been going there since I moved to MHD 9 years ago and my kids have grown up going to this beach. It has so many special memories and holds a special place for us all.

Coffee or Tea?
Ali: Coffee. All the Coffee. I am a regular at Mookies! (another woman-owned neighboring business!)
Lisa: Chai tea with oat milk
