Milk + Cookies

Preparing for your feeding journey is unique to every parent, and having the right support can make all the difference! Whether you're breastfeeding, exclusively pumping, using formula, or donor milk, unexpected challenges often arise. We always encourage seeking out IBCLCs, joining feeding support groups, and equipping yourself with evidence-based information *before* bringing baby home. Those early days are physically and emotionally exhausting; trying to find help in the midst of it all can feel overwhelming. While family and friends mean well, their advice may not always be the most accurate.

So, what’s a parent to do? We’ve got you covered! We maintain an evolving list of trusted resources that we update regularly to ensure you have access to the best support.

And speaking of support—I can’t keep this recipe to myself any longer! Nearly 13 years ago, a friend gifted me the most thoughtful lactation basket at my baby shower, filled with all the dry ingredients for this incredible Lactation Cookie Recipe and a few breastfeeding essentials. Through my own three breastfeeding journeys and the many moms I’ve shared it with, these cookies have become a New Mom Staple. I’ve passed this recipe along to friends, family, and even strangers—because something this good deserves to be shared! My husband was always a big fan too—these cookies are perfectly safe (and delicious!) for anyone looking for a tasty treat!

Tip: Whip up a batch (or two!), roll the dough into balls, and freeze them on a parchment paper-lined tray. Once solid, toss them into a freezer bag back in the freezer for easy storage. Craving fresh cookies? Just pop the frozen dough onto a baking sheet and bake—voila, Cookies on Demand!

Another New Parent Trick I love:

Pre-make bento boxes for yourself (or a friend!) so when hunger strikes, you’ve got easy, one-handed snacks ready to go. This is such a good and easy "gift" to bring a new parent as well. Hunger strikes around the clock!

Use square storage containers with reusable (or paper) muffin tin liners. Fill each section with high-protein, grab-and-go options: peeled hard-boiled eggs, nuts, Babybel cheese, hummus, baby carrots—and of course, a lactation cookie (or two!). Because a well-fed mama is a happy mama!
